Letters from alumnae: Kirstyn Sperry

Each Thursday this summer, Bryant University Volleyball alumnae will reflect on their experiences as a student-athlete at Bryant and playing for Coach Garlacy.

This Thursday's installment is from Kirstyn Sperry, who played at Bryant from 2015-18.

"When I first committed to Bryant, I was extremely excited, but also terrified. I did not know what to expect coming from Arizona all the way to Rhode Island. However, Bryant exceeded all I could've hoped for in my college experience. This is thanks to Bryant Volleyball. Theresa and Ted have created not only a team, but a family. I never thought I would miss preseason. However, as the team returns this week for another year, I find myself wishing I was joining them (until I think of the fitness test.) Thanks to them, I have made friendships that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

"Theresa and Ted continue to care about each of their players as their own, on and off the court and pre and post graduation. As I prepare for my first job in the 'real' world, I realize that Bryant Volleyball has prepared me more than I ever could have hoped for. The perseverance and teamwork that is ingrained in the culture of Bryant Volleyball are just two of the qualities I will carry with me. No matter where I go or what I end up doing, I know that I will have the full support and encouragement of Theresa, Ted and the rest of the Bryant Volleyball family, and for that I am forever grateful.

"I can't wait to see what Bryant Volleyball continues to achieve! Good luck this season!"

Bryant begins its 2019 season Friday, Aug. 30, when the Bulldogs face San Diego State in a tournament hosted by FGCU in Fort Myers, Florida. The Bulldogs' home opener will be Friday, Sept. 6, when Bryant hosts North Dakota in its first match of the Hampton Inn-vitational.
