Volleyball Falls to Brown, 3-1

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women's volleyball team fell to Brown, 3-1, to open the Bryant Invitational. It was their first loss of the season.

Coach Garlacy's Comments:

"Such a hard fought battle tonight. Fabi and Riley did a great job hitting high hands, but we were not as efficient as last weekend."

 

How it Happened:

Set 1: A balanced offensive attack helped the Bulldogs to the Set 1 win. Six players recorded a kill, including three each from Riley James and Haley O'Brien.

Set 2: The second set, like the first, was close throughout. Brown edged Bryant in kills (16-14) and hitting percentage (.244-.196) to help them take the set.

Set 3: Brown capitalized on eight Bulldog errors to take another close set. Fabi Castro and Alysa Wright each had three kills in the period.

Set 4: Brown pulled away in the fourth and final set, as Bryant was able to muster only six kills against eleven errors.

 

Bulldog Notes and Notables:

  • Riley James led the Bulldogs with 11 kills in the match. She leads Bryant with 39 kills on the season.

  • Five different players notched a block, with Caroline Kennedy, Alysa Wright, and Haley O'Brien posting two apiece. Wright leads the team with 20 total blocks this season.

  • Bryant continued its strong serving, posting four aces and a .920 serving percentage. Mia Cergol had two of the four aces.
