Volleyball Heads to NYC this Weekend

BROOKLYN, N.Y.- The Bryant women's volleyball team will make their first road trip in conference play this weekend, as they head to the big city to take on St. Francis Brooklyn and Long Island. The Bulldogs will be looking to extend their season long four game winning streak.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Riley James is the reigning NEC Co-Player of the Week. She posted 41 kills, 38 digs, four service aces, and four blocks in Bryant's three matches. Her 18 kills against Central Connecticut were a season high, and featured the 500th kill of her collegiate career.

  • Emma McGovern also reached the 500 career kill mark last week when she tied a career high with 18 kills against Sacred Heart. McGovern has 40 kills and 7 blocks in the Bulldogs' last three contests.

  • Bryant has posted three straight matches with at least 50 kills, raising their season total to six such games. They set a season high with 59 kills against Hartford, and also had a season best 11 blocks against Sacred Heart.

  • The Bulldogs' 3-2 win over CCSU on Saturday was their first five set match of the season. Bryant has fared well in five set matches recently, winning all three they contested last season.

St. Francis Match Preview: Scouting the Terriers

  • St. Francis is 4-12 this season and went 1-1 to start NEC play.

  • Player to Watch: Senior setter Angelee Ng is fifth in the NEC in assists (424 total, 7.31 per set). She is also second on the team with 13 service aces and 137 digs.

  • Bryant is 22-4 all-time against the Terriers (8-3 DI). They did not play last year, but the Bulldogs swept both meetings in 2019.

Long Island Match Preview: Scouting the Sharks

  • LIU is 4-10 (1-1 NEC) so far this season.

  • Player to Watch: Graduate student outside hitter Jovana Stekovic is second in the NEC in kills (213 total, 4.02 per set). She also leads the team with 13 aces and is second on the team with 126 digs.

  • Bryant is 7-19 all-time against LIU, with all matches coming at the Division I level. The Bulldogs split their matches with the Sharks last season.
