Volleyball Ends Regular Season at SHU, CCSU

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women's volleyball team will travel to Connecticut this weekend for their final two matches of the regular season vs. Sacred Heart and Central Connecticut.

Bulldog Notes and Notables:

  • Bryant clinched the NEC regular season championship last weekend and will be hosting a conference tournament for the first time at the Division I level. Their win over LIU also gave them an undefeated record at home during NEC play.

  • The Bulldogs set season highs of 69 kills and 65 assists in their five set win over LIU last weekend.

  • Caroline Kennedy celebrated senior night vs. LIU with a career high 22 kills and a .500 attack percentage. She and Riley James both rank in the top ten in the NEC in kills.

  • Mia Cergol also set a career high vs. LIU, posting 59 assists in her tenth double-double of the season.

  • Alysa Wright leads the conference with 106 total blocks, but is second to CCSU's Isabelle Roufs in blocks per set. Wright is also top five in the conference with a .295 hitting percentage. 

SHU Preview: Scouting the Pioneers

  • Sacred Heart is 15-9 this season and 9-3 in the NEC. They clinched a playoff spot last weekend, and are currently 2nd in the standings.

  • Player to Watch: Senior setter Sarah Ciszek leads the NEC in hitting percentage (.354) and is second is assists (786, 8.83 per set). She is also tied for the nationwide lead with three triple-doubles this season.

  • Bryant swept Sacred Heart to open conference play on September 24 in Smithfield. The win broke a streak of four straight losses to the Pioneers.

CCSU Preview: Scouting the Blue Devils

  • Central Connecticut is 8-16 and 5-7 in the NEC this season. They sit in 5th place, but were eliminated from playoff contention last weekend.

  • Player to Watch: Sophomore opposite hitter Isabelle Roufs leads the NEC in blocks per set (1.08, 100 total). She is also seventh in the league in hitting percentage (.266).

  • The Blue Devils took Bryant to five sets back on September 25 in the Chace Center, but the Bulldogs pulled out the victory. It was their sixth win on their last eight matches over CCSU.
