68 named to NEC Academic Honor Roll

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – A total of 68 Bryant University student-athletes were named to the Northeast Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, including 12 who earned Commissioner's Honor Roll distinctions, as announced by league officials last week.

The NEC Academic Honor Roll consists of student-athletes who have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or above with 581 fall student-athletes qualifying for the distinction in 2013. Of those 581 student-athletes, 166 were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll, an accolade that recognizes those who have maintained a GPA of 3.75 or above.

Women’s cross country and volleyball led the way with four qualifiers apiece with Eimear Black, Staci Rezendes, Brittany Sarza and Brooke Tomasetti earning the honor for cross country and for volleyball Sara DePouw, Mikayla LaRosa, Viktoria Nesterov and Claire Van Dyk made the mark. Men’s cross country (Alexander Evans), football (Joseph Paparelli) and men’s soccer (Zachary Bleau-Prevost and Chris Knaub) were also represented.

Bryant football placed 20 student-athletes on the NEC Academic Honor Roll to lead the pack, while women's soccer saw 13 and men's soccer and volleyball each saw 11 make the list. Men’s cross country rounded out the group for Bryant with five student-athletes making the grade.
