Baseball Defeats Merrimack Monday 3-0 Behind Eric Loh's Complete Game Seven-Hitter

BRYANT BASEBALL DEFEATS MERRIMACK 3-0

SMITHFIELD, RI - Sophomore Eric Loh (Old Greenwich, CT) pitched a complete game shutout Monday afternoon in leading the Bryant University baseball team to a 3-0 win over visiting Merrimack College in a Northeast-10 Conference game at the Bryant Baseball Complex.

The win was Loh's (right) third of the season for the Bulldogs as the righty struck out six Merrimack batters and allowed just seven hits on the afternoon.

Bryant (13-28, 11-10 NE-10) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning as Chris Brown (Norwalk, CT) led off with a double to right and came around to score three batters later when Nick Tucarella (Salem, NH) laced a single down the leftfield line.

The Bulldogs would give Loh a cushion with two more runs in the second.  After Mike Rocco (Tewksbury, MA) reached with a one-out single, Paul Novakowski (Prospect, CT) plated Rocco with a triple.  The senior would later score on a passed ball.

Jeff Ghiloni and Tim Corcoran each had a pair of hits for Merrimack (13-20, 9-13 NE-10) as the Warriors left 10 runners on base in the game.  Mike Coppinger took the loss, going 6 2/3 allowing three runs on seven hits and finishing with four strikeouts.

Bryant will travel to UMass Lowell Tuesday night for a 7 pm game.  Merrimack will visit Southern New Hampshire Tuesday for a 3:30 pm game.
