Baseball Falls to Pace 4-3 Friday Afternoon; Bulldogs Host Assumption Sunday for Senior Day

BRYANT BASEBALL FALLS TO PACE 4-3 FRIDAY
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Visiting Pace University scored two unearned runs in the top of the ninth inning to pull out a 4-3 come from behind win over the Bryant University baseball team Friday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action. The game was scheduled to be played Tuesday but was postponed due to rain and rescheduled for today.
Bryant (17-31) took a 3-2 lead into the ninth inning after scoring runs in the third, fifth, and seventh inning. In the third, Bryant's Chad Valenti was hit by a pitch to lead off th inning. Two batters later, Mike Rocco would double to move Valenti over to third. Chris Brown would follow Rocco with a sacrifice fly to left to plate Valenti and give Bryant an early 1-0 lead.
With the game tied at 2-2 in the seventh, Bryant senior Nick Tucarella doubled in the go ahead run in the bottom of the seventh, giving the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead. Bryant pitcher Eric Loh pitched eight strong innings. The sophomore struck out eight Pace batters heading into the ninth, but a throwing error with one out in the inning led to a Chris Brown RBI single to center to tie the game at 3-3. The Setters (30-17, 15-11 NE-10) would get the go ahead run a few batters later when Andre Liscinsky singled with two outs to score Brian Hollrah from third.
Bryant will conclude the regular season with a doubleheader Sunday against Assumption starting at noon.
