Bryant Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader over New Haven and Felician College

FORT PIERCE, FLA. - The Bryant baseball team snapped a six-game losing streak, sweeping a doubleheader Saturday at the Lawnwood Complex. Bryant downed New Haven 9-5 and defeated Felician 24-8.

In the first game, Dan Lozeau (Pelham, NH) who was last week's Northeast-10 pitcher of the week, notched his first victory of the season, throwing seven innings, while scattering five runs and striking out three. Chris Fondas (Needham, MA) and Adam Vuolo (Walpole, MA) pitched perfect innings to close out the game.

2B Dave Muscatello (Hopkinton, MA) led the way at the plate with a single and triple and a RBI. 1B Mike Rocco (Tewksbury, MA) drove home two more, while CF Nick Campbell (Raynham, MA) added a single and double and a RBI for the Bulldogs.

In the second game, the Bulldogs scored ten runs in the first five innings, capped off by a five-run fifth to give them a big lead.

Luke Cowan (Atlanta, GA) picked up the win, improving his record to 1-1 as he went six innings, giving up four runs (three earned). Mike Upton (Chelmsford, MA) and Tom Baker (West Brookfield, MA) closed out the game throwing the final three innings.

Catcher Jeff Vigurs (South Windsor, CT) launched his first career home-run, a two-run shot, and went 5-for-7 with 4 RBIs. C Jason Alexander (Simsbury, CT) also had five hits (5-for-6) and drove home three. LF T.J. Magnell (Leominster, MA) added four hits in five at-bats and score five times, while Campbell had three more singles, giving him five hits in the doubleheader.

Bryant pounded out 26 hits in the victory over Felician.

The Bulldogs (2-6) will go for a perfect road trip Sunday when they take on Concordia (9 a.m.) and New Haven (12 p.m.) at the Lawnwood Complex in Fort Pierce, Fla.
