Magnell Drives Home Three in 6-1 Win over SONH

MANCHESTER, N.H. - With the season winding down, the Bryant baseball team solidified its third-place positioning in the Northeast-10 with a 6-1 win over Southern N.H. Tuesday afternoon.

LF T.J. Magnell (Leominster, Mass.) drove home three runs, including a two-run single in the seventh that broke the game open,

C Jeff Vigurs (South Windsor, CT) had two doubles and three hits, while scoring twice.

Kevin Cobb (Acton, Mass.) pitched 6.2 innings, improving his record to 5-0. He allowed no earned runs (one unearned), while striking out five. Eric Polvani (Wallingford, CT) threw 1.1 innings of scoreless ball. He has not allowed an earned run in his last 32.1 innings.

Senior Mike Upton (Chelmsford, Mass.) got the final two outs to wrap up the victory. Making his second appearance in the Bulldogs' last four games, Bryant's only senior pitcher has strung together back-to-back scoreless outings.

The Bulldogs (27-17, 19-7 NE-10) will visit Southern Connecticut Thursday (3:30 p.m.) before taking on UMass-Lowell in a key four-game series Friday (4/7 p.m.) and Saturday (12/3 p.m.).
