Kelich carries over success into summer

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Rising junior pitcher Peter Kelich (Jackson, N.J.) was selected to play in the second annual Mid-Atlantic Classic All-Star game last week, highlighting a quartet of Bryant University baseball players making an impact in their respective summer leagues.

Kelich, who has earned a 3-2 mark in five starts this season, has posted a 2.43 ERA for the Haymarket Senators of the Valley Baseball League. The New Jersey native has fanned 29 batters in 37.0 innings pitched and has recorded a save in seven total appearances.

Fellow Bulldog pitcher Craig Schlitter (Guilford, Conn.) has turned heads in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, posting a league-best 0.54 ERA. Schlitter has rung up 14 batters in five appearances while allowing just one earned run for the Mystic Schooners.

Brian O'Neil (North Reading, Mass.) joins Schlitter as a premier pitcher in the NECBL, with a 1.54 ERA in 18.2 innings pitched for the New Bedford Bay Sox. O'Neil has surrended just three earned runs in five appearances.

At the dish, rising junior Kevin Brown (Northborough, Mass.) is leading the NECBL with 32 hits while generating a .340 batting average. Brown has accounted for a team-hgih 17 runs for the first-place Keene Swamp Bats and paces the lineup with four home runs.
