Bingel to play in 41st NEIBA All-Star Game tonight in Lowell

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University baseball sophomore utility Brandon Bingel (Peabody, Mass.) has been selected to play in the 41st New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Joe Walsh All-Star Game tonight at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Mass., with a first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

A First Team All-New England selection as a utility player, Bingel will be a member of the University team which consists of Division I players who were named All-New England. They will face the College Division team which consists of Division II and Division III All-Stars.

Bingel enjoyed a breakout season for the Bulldogs in 2015, batting .317 with eight doubles, four triples, seven home runs, 31 RBI and 39 runs scored. He set career-highs in every major offensive category while playing third base and shortstop for the Black and Gold. In 53 games, Bingel collected 19 extra-base hits and had an OPS of .925.

On the mound, Bingel turned into one of Bryant's top three starters by the end of the season. He finished the year 5-2 with one save and a team-low 3.23 ERA. Bingel struck out 30, walked 20 and allowed just 41 hits in 47.1 innings. He saved his best start for last as he pitched a career-high eight scoreless innings against Fairleigh Dickinson in an elimination game in the Northeast Conference Tournament.
