Final day of Fall World Series ends in tie
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Garrett Hayward (Glendale, R.I.) and Mason Palmieri (Lincoln, R.I.) each struck out three over three scoreless innings as the final day of the Black and Gold World Series ended in a 2-2 tie.
Hayward didn't allow a hit, walked two and struck out three in three innings. Palmieri allowed just one hit, hit a batter and struck out three.
Offensively, Matt Dowd (Wakefield, R.I.) and Joseph Paparelli (Preston, Conn.) delivered the RBIs for team Black. John Nollet (Storrs, Conn.) led Gold with a double, RBI and a run scored. AJ Zarozny (Shrewsbury, Mass.) drove in the other run for Gold.
