Four Bulldogs among D1Baseball.com power rankings

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – D1Baseball.com has released its college baseball positional power rankings and four members of the Bryant University baseball team have been named at their respective positions.

Senior catcher Buck McCarthy (Saugus, Mass.), classmate and first baseman Robby Rinn (Warwick, R.I.), junior second baseman Cole Fabio (Mahwah, N.J.) and junior outfielder Matt Albanese (East Haddam, Conn.) were all listed.

McCarthy, Bryant's returning starter behind the plate, is ranked the 42nd-best backstop. He hit .303 with six home runs and 38 RBI in 46 games last season.

D1Baseball ranked Rinn No. 26 on its list of first baseman. A three-year starter, Rinn posted his best offensive season in 2015, hitting .332 with 21 doubles, seven home runs, 43 RBI and 44 runs scored.

Coming off a phenomenal sophomore campaign, Fabio is ranked as the No. 13 second baseman in all of college baseball. He put up a slash line of .347/.438/.477 last spring, collecting 69 hits, 12 doubles, 45 runs and 17 stolen bases.

Albanese is one of 100 outfielders ranked and was slotted 63rd coming off a solid sophomore season. He hit .319/.373/.542 with 11 doubles, three triples, five home runs, 28 RBI and 35 runs scored in just 36 games.

The Bulldogs compete in the Tony Gwynn Classic this weekend in San Diego, Calif. They will face tournament host San Diego State on Friday night at 9:00 p.m. EST.
