Angelini picks up 5th NEC Rookie of the Week honor

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University baseball freshman Nick Angelini (Bedford, N.H.) has been named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Angelini helped the Bulldogs to a series victory over Central Connecticut last weekend, hitting .529 (9-17) with two doubles, an RBI, three runs scored and a .556 OBP. He has now been named the NEC Rookie of the Week a league-high five times.

The Bedford, N.H., native had a hit in all four games, multiple hits in three of the games, and scored a run in each of the first three games. Angelini broke out of an 0-for-17 slump with a career-high four hits in the first game of the series, doubled and scored in game two and had a hit and scored the eventual winning run in game three. He finished the weekend with a 2-for-4 showing. Angelini sits third on the team with 15 multi-hit games this season.

Bryant is back in action on Tuesday when it travels to Lowell, Mass., to take on UMass Lowell. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
