Louisville Slugger All-American Teams

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior Robby Rinn (Warwick, R.I.) and sophomore James Karinchak (Walden, N.Y.), members of the nationally-ranked Bryant University baseball team, have been selected as Louisville Slugger Second Team All-Americans, as announced by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper on Thursday.

Rinn and Karinchak become the first players in program history to earn All-American honors from Louisville Slugger. They are also the first teammates to earn the distinction in the same season. Rinn and Karinchak are the fourth and fifth All-Americans in DI program history.

The 2016 Northeast Conference and New England Player of the Year, Rinn has put together one of the best offensive seasons in program history. He enters the NCAA Tournament with a .378 average, 85 hits, 25 doubles, four triples, five home runs, 61 RBI and 53 runs scored. Rinn's 85 hits are a DI program record, while his 25 doubles are a school record and rank third nationally. He has accumulated 133 total bases and has struck out just 16 times in 225 at-bats. Rinn produced seven multi-double games this year and he is just the second player in Bryant's DI history to drive in over 60 runs.

A 2015 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, Karinchak has been even better as a sophomore. The NEC Pitcher of the Year, Karinchak enters the NCAA Tournament with a 12-2 record and a 2.04 ERA. He has set a school record in wins and his 104 strikeouts are also a school record. Karinchak has walked just 39 and opponents are hitting .209 against him in 88 1/3 innings. He tied a DI program record with 13 strikeouts over six innings against George Mason and pitched seven shutout innings in the NEC Tournament opener last weekend.

The Bulldogs, the No. 2 seed, open NCAA Tournament play in Charlottesville, Va., on Friday, June 3 against third-seeded East Carolina. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
