Karinchak earns National Player of the Week and NEC Pitcher of the Week honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior James Karinchak (Walden, N.Y.) has been named a Collegiate Baseball Newspaper National Player of the Week and the Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week after his dominate performance against Wagner, it was announced on Monday afternoon.

It is the second time this year that Karinchak earned National Player of the Week honors. It is the first time this season he has been named the NEC Pitcher of the Week.

Karinchak was lights out against the Seahawks on Saturday, striking out 11 in a one-hit shutout. He faced just two batters over the minimum in the seven-inning contest and allowed just two balls to leave the infield. Karinchak got better and better as the game went on, recording seven of the final nine outs via the strikeout. It was his fifth-career 10+ strikeout game and he is now in sole possession of third place in Bryant DI program history with 22 wins.

In six starts, Karinchak has allowed just six runs on 11 hits in 25 2/3 innings. He has struck out 40 and has a 14.03 K/9 ratio.
