Titus earns Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper

FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICANS

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University baseball freshman shortstop Jimmy Titus (Stafford, Conn.) was named a Freshman All-American by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, the organization announced on Wednesday morning.

Titus, the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year, becomes the seventh player in Division I program history to earn the honor. The Bulldogs have now had a Freshman All-American in each of the last five years.

The first rookie starting shortstop in DI program history, Titus put together one of the best seasons for a first year player in Bryant history on his way to becoming the sixth-straight Bulldog to earn NEC Rookie of the Year honors. He finished the year with a .296 average and led the team with 16 doubles and a freshman program-record eight home runs. Titus also drove in 42 runs and scored 42 runs, becoming just the second freshman in DI program history to accomplish that feat (Kevin Brown, 2010). He also tied for the team lead with 108 total bases and finished with a team-high 26 extra-base hits.
