D1Baseball.com names Ryan Ward Freshman All-American

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University baseball redshirt freshman Ryan Ward (Millbury, Mass.) has been selected as a first team honoree to the D1Baseball.com Freshman All-American team, announced by D1Baseball.com on Thursday.

Ward has now earned Freshman All-American citations from four separate outlets. He becomes the first player in program history to earn Freshman All-American honors from D1Baseball.com.

The Northeast Conference and New England Player and Rookie of the Year, Ward hit .409 with 101 hits in one of the most memorable seasons in program history. He posted 22 doubles, five triples, eight home runs, 52 RBI and 51 runs scored in 56 games. Ward finished with a program-record 157 total bases and struck out just 10 times during the year. He enjoyed a program-record 30-game hitting streak and also reached base safely in 40-straight games at one point.

Ward has now received 17 separate honors, including Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Co-National Freshman Player of the Year honors, this offseason.
