Angelini named NEC Player of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University baseball senior Nick Angelini (Bedford, N.H.) has been named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Angelini's eye-popping offensive production spearheaded the Bulldogs three-game sweep of Central Connecticut. The veteran outfielder recorded three hits in each of Bryant's three victories over CCSU. He logged at least one extra-base hit, one RBI and one run scored in all three starts against the Blue Devils. Angelini reached base at a .667 clip while slugging 1.286 during the three-game weekend set. In the series-opening hit parade, a 16-4 triumph by the Bulldogs, the 5-foot-11 senior connected on a run-scoring single, a RBI double and a solo homer. Angelini singled home runs in the fifth and sixth innings of the series' middle game as part of a 3-for-6 effort in a 15-4 win. He opened the scoring in the series finale, leading off the second inning by blasting a solo shot over the left-field fence. For the week, which also included non-conference battles against Rhode Island and Quinnipiac, Angelini batted .500 (11-for-22) with three doubles, two long balls, nine RBI and six runs. The senior has notched at least one hit and one RBI in six consecutive games and the Bulldogs are averaging 13.2 runs per outing during that stretch.

In addition, redshirt sophomore Ryan Ward (Millbury, Mass.) and junior James Ciliento (Mahwah, N.J.) were named #NECPrimePerformers. Ward hit four home runs and drove in six in three games against CCSU, while Ciliento hit four home runs and drove in 12 over five games.
