Ward named ABCA/Rawlings All-American

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University baseball redshirt sophomore Ryan Ward (Millbury, Mass.) was named an ABCA/Rawlings Third Team All-American on Saturday afternoon.

Ward becomes the first player in DI program history to earn All-American honors in multiple seasons. He was an ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-American last spring and the Black and Gold have now had six ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans in DI program history.

Bryant's everyday left fielder, Ward collected 95 hits and finished with a .382 average, 15 doubles, 13 home runs, 51 RBI, 59 runs scored and 153 total bases. Ward became the first player in program history to have 90+ hits in multiple seasons and the first to have multiple seasons of 50+ RBI and 50+ runs scored. He also set the DI single-season record for home runs and became the fastest player to reach 200 career hits in program history.

Ward, drafted in the eighth round by the Los Angeles Dodgers, was one of six Bryant players to earn ABCA/Rawlings All-Northeast honors on Wednesday. Bryant's five first-team selections were the most of any team in the country.
