Theetge wins ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University baseball senior pitcher Steve Theetge (Syracuse, N.Y.) has been named a 2019 Gold Glove winner by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings, it was announced on Wednesday night.

Theetge becomes the first Bulldog to win a Gold Glove at the DI level and the second in program history, joining 2019 Bryant Hall of Fame inductee Nick Campbell (2008).

The Syracuse, New York, native fielded all 33 chances without committing an error and also picked off a single-season record nine baserunners. Theetge allowed just two stolen bases against him in 102 2/3 innings and completed his four-year career with just three total errors and a program record 20 pickoffs.

Theetge's Gold Glove wraps up one of the greatest careers by a pitcher in program history. The left-hander won a program-record 32 games and finished with 270 strikeouts in a program record 344 1/3 innings. Theetge was named the Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Year, a Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Third Team All-American and a First Team All-New England and All-Northeast selection.
