No. 22 Bulldogs swept by Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The No. 22 Bryant University baseball team dropped a pair of games to Davidson on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.

Davidson won the first game 11-0 and completed the weekend sweep with a 9-2 victory in the nightcap.

  • Davidson opened a close game with four runs in the sixth and six runs in the eighth.                

How it Happened (Game 1)

  • The Wildcats grabbed a 1-0 lead with a two-out single in the bottom of the first.
  • Davidson then had four of its first batters reach to open the sixth. A triple and back-to-back doubles brought home two runs and a two-run home run from Ryan Wilson made it 5-0.
  • The Wildcats put the game away with six runs in the eighth. An HBP and a walk with the bases loaded brought in the first two runs, while singles brought home the final four runs.

  • Jacob Hinderleider doubled home a pair of runs to give the Wildcats a 5-0 lead in the third inning.                

How it Happened (Game 2)

  • Three-straight two-out hits led to a pair of runs for Davidson in the first.
  • Hinderleider then capped a three-run third with a two-run double.
  • Logan Allen doubled and came around to score on a Derek Smith ground out in the top of the fourth.
  • Tommy DiTullio then scored Damaurys Rodriguez with a two-out single in the fifth.
  • Garrett Browder answered with a two-run double to make it 8-2 in the fifth.

Stats (Game 2)

  • Davidson outhit Bryant, 12-5.
  • Allen doubled and scored for Bryant.
  • DiTullio and Smith each collected RBIs.
  • Logan Frasier struck out five over 3.0 innings. He allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits.
  • M.T. Morrissey tossed a scoreless inning of relief as did Austin Wainer.
