Bryant visits preseason favorite Binghamton this weekend

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University baseball team travels to Vestal, New York, this weekend for a three-game series with defending America East champion Binghamton. The series is scheduled to begin Friday at 3:00 p.m.

  • Jeter will get the ball on Friday for the fourth-straight weekend. He's allowed two runs or less in each of his last three starts. 
  • Jeter allowed two runs on two hits and struck out six over just 3.1 innings last Friday. That start came in a seven-inning contest.  
  • Turner has worked exactly 5.0 innings in each of his last three starts. He allowed three runs on seven hits over 5.0 innings last Friday vs NJIT.
  • Jackson Vanesko will make his second weekend start of the year on Sunday. Vanesko was named the America East Pitcher of the Week on Mar. 27.
  • Vanekso started two games last week, tossing 7.0 scoreless innings. He allowed just four hits in those two starts.
  • Binghamton's Friday starter, Thomas Babalis, has been good over his last four outings, working into the sixth inning and allowing two runs or fewer in all four.
  • Gabe Driscoll currently leads the America East in wins and ERA, allowing two runs or less in five of his six starts. He was touched for five runs on six hits in 6.2 innings last week vs UMass Lowell.
  • Bryggman has won each of his last three starts. He won seven games a season ago.

  • Bryant and Binghamton are meeting for the first time in program history. 

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Bryant enters the weekend at 11-9 overall and 3-0 in America East play. The Bulldogs dropped a 7-6 midweek contest to Merrimack on Wednesday. 
  • The Bulldogs have won 10-of-12 after starting the year 1-7. 
  • Jake Gustin leads the Bulldogs, hitting .333 with eight doubles, a home run, 12 RBI and 15 runs scored. He enters the weekend with 197 career hits. 
  • Brian Schaub is 7-for-11 over his last four games and has four doubles and five home runs on the season. 
  • John Hosmer leads the squad with 18 RBI.
  • Brett Wichrowski and Austin Wainer have been two of Bryant's go-to arms out of the bullpen. Wichrowski is 2-0 with a save and a 2.08 ERA in 17.1 innings. He's struck out 22.
  • Wainer is 2-2 with 22 strikeouts in 15.0 innings this year.
