SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University baseball senior Austin Wainer and redshirt freshman Gavin Greger have been named to the Preseason All-America East Team by Perfect Game.

Wainer brings 43 games of collegiate experience into his senior season. The righty from Johns Creek, Ga., owns a 5-5 record and three saves in 92.0 career innings. He posted a career-high 17 appearances in 2023, going 3-4 with a 4.73 ERA in 45.2 innings. Wainer served as a long reliever as well as a closer for the Bulldogs, striking out 50 and walking just 21.

Greger joins the Black and Gold after spending his freshman season at the University of Connecticut. After not making an appearance for the Huskies last spring, Greger hit .289 with nine doubles, three home runs, 21 RBI and 32 runs scored in 48 games for the New Britain Bees in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League over the summer.

Bryant opens its second season as a member of the America East on Feb. 16 at UCF. The Bulldogs will also make trips to George Washington and Maryland before hosting Merrimack on March 6 at Conaty Park.
