Baruch's grand slam lifts Bryant past Iona on Saturday
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Daniel Baruch hit his first-career grand slam and Luke Delongchamp struck out seven over 5.0 innings as the Bryant baseball team ran its winning streak to three games with a 9-7 win over Iona on Saturday at Conaty Park.
Bryant improves to 4-7 overall and clinches the weekend series with the win. The Bulldogs and Gaels wrap up the weekend series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
After rallying late in each of their last two wins, the Black and Gold flipped the script and built a 7-0 lead on Saturday. Baruch's grand slam capped a seven-run second and the Bulldogs were able to hold on.
Delongchamp, Jack Pletter and Mark Scamardella combined to strikeout 13 without issuing a walk.

- A walk to Jackson Phinney was followed by a Brandyn Durand double down the third base line to start the second. Chris Einemann then singled to short to drive in the first run and Lewis Barnum laid down a perfect bunt to bring in the second. A third run scored on a throwing error by the pitcher.
- A walk and an error then loaded the bases and Baruch cleared them with a drive to deep left center.
- Iona would get two back with a two-run single from Jayson Gonzalez in the third.
- Carmine Petosa pushed the lead to 8-2 as he hit a laser over the center field fence for his first home run of the season.
- Gonzalez would be responsible for all seven Iona runs as he hit a two-run home run in the fifth, drove in a run with a ground out in the seventh and plated two more in the ninth.
- Phinney drove in Bryant's final run of the game with an RBI double in the fifth.
