Wainer, Pletter toss shutout as Bryant takes opener at NJIT

LITTLE FALLS, N.J. – Austin Wainer tossed 6.0 shutout innings and the Bryant baseball team slugged three home runs as it opened its weekend with an 11-0 victory over NJIT on Friday night at Yogi Berra Stadium.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 29-14 overall and 14-2 in America East play. Bryant is now 28-7 in its last 35 games and improved has won all four its road games in league play.

Carmine Petosa paced Bryant's offensive attack, going 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBI. He has now reached in all 43 games this season and 46-straight dating back to last year. Gavin Noriega hit his 15th home run of the season, setting the single-season program record. Zac Zyons (2-4, 2B, 2RBI, 3R) and Gavin Greger each had two hits, while Daniel Baruch homered for the second straight game.

Wainer allowed six hits, walked one and struck out five over 6.0 scoreless to earn his fifth win. Jack Pletter then retired 12 of the final 13 batters to close it out. He didn't allow a hit and struck out two.
