Wainer picks up third pitcher of the week honor

BOSTON -- Bryant baseball senior Austin Wainer was named the America East Pitcher of the Week on Monday morning. 

Wainer picks up his third weekly honor of the season after tossing 6.0 shutout innings in Bryant's 11-0 win over NJIT on Friday. The righty allowed six hits, walked one and struck out five to earn his fifth win of the year. 

The Johns Creek, Ga., native is now 4-0 with a 1.89 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 38.0 innings against league opponents. On the year, he leads the Bulldogs in wins (5), innings pitched (61.0) and strikeouts (55). 

Bryant opens an America East series on Friday at Maine.
