Bulldogs take down Hawks and head to Conference Championship

Smithfield, R.I. - The Bulldogs defeated in-state rival Roger Williams University on Saturday to clinch a berth in the Colonial Coast Rugby Conference Final next Sunday at 4PM versus the Endicott Gulls.

Bryant lost the opening kickoff but held off a strong Roger Williams attack in the opening minutes with some great breakdown work. Senior TJ Galligan scored in the 7th minute with a conversion by Senior Ollie Mercier to put the Bulldogs up 7. Minutes later, a yellow card, had Bryant playing down a man for ten minutes. The Dogs were up to the test, survived the man deficit, and Sophomore Xander Honor scored a breakaway try in minute 22.

Senior Nolan McLaney put two tries on the board from the wing at minutes 28 and 43, and Senior Hanover Dill scored another at minute 73. A penalty kick by Freshman Robbie Barrett also increased the scoreline.

The victory as a whole was a tremendous team effort with a tough defensive front, and excellent work at the breakdown from all players on the day!  Our work is cut out for us next weekend, and we hope to see all Bryant Alumni who live in the Boston area out and cheering us on!

The CCRC Championship will be 116 at 4PM at Pine Banks Field in Malden, Ma.
