Lazo named NEC Special Teams Player of the Week; Honorable Mention STATS FCS SPTPOW

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University football sophomore defensive lineman Kevin Lazo (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) has been named the Northeast Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

In addition, Lazo was named an Honorable Mention STATS FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week. The honors are the first-career weekly honor for Lazo and comes after he blocked two field goals in the Bulldogs' loss to Brown last Saturday.

Lazo's first block led to Bryant's first touchdown of the afternoon. He swatted down a 40-yard field goal attempt by the Bears and teammate Charles Wingate (Englewood, N.J.) picked up the ball and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown. Lazo then blocked a 24-yard field goal attempt with 2:11 left in the first half to preserve a 21-14 Bryant lead.
