Easton earns Gold Helmet award for performance at Sacred Heart

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University football senior Dalton Easton (Miami, Fla.) has been named the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Gold Helmet recipient following his outstanding performance against Sacred Heart last Saturday.

Easton becomes the first QB in program history to earn the Gold Helmet which is given weekly to an outstanding performer at the Division I and Division II/III levels. Chad Ward is the last Bulldog to receive the honor.

Playing in his final game with the Black and Gold, Easton completed 22-of-36 passes for a school-record 391 yards and four touchdowns. It marked the seventh time in his career that he has thrown 4+ TDs in a single game. Easton connected with classmate Taylor Barthelette (East Longmeadow, Mass.) for a 21-yard score and then threw TD passes of 22 and 18 yards to junior Matt Sewall (Portsmouth, R.I.). Easton's final TD pass was a 67-yard strike to junior Aaron Aryee (Hartford, Conn.).

The four touchdown passes give Easton 28 for the season, setting a new Northeast Conference record. He also finished the regular season with 2,855 passing yards, the most in a single season in program history.
