Spring football notebook No. 1

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team opened spring practice on Friday morning inside the Conaty Indoor Athletic Center.

#PlayFAST...

One year into coach Perry's tenure, the Bulldogs came into the first practice prepared for what to expect. Friday's first practice lived up to the #PlayFAST mentality as the Bulldogs were able to jump right into practice and fly around the field.

Good numbers…

The Bulldogs will have a big number of student-athletes during spring ball as only 19 players from last year's team graduated.

That's defensive…

The players wearing black jersey's looked very familiar on Friday as all but two starters from last year's team are expected to return. That group was led by 2017 Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Thomas Costigan (Stamford, Conn.).

High-powered offense…

Rising redshirt senior Price Wilson (Marietta, Ga.) was back in action on Friday after a record-breaking fall. As expected, Wilson looked comfortable running the high-powered Bryant offense with one year under his belt.

Pull the rope...

The Black and Gold ended the first day of practice with a tug-of-war competition. The defensive group picked up the first competition win of the spring.

Open to the public…

All of Bryant's spring practices are open to the public.

Next up…

Bryant will hold its second spring practice on Saturday morning inside the Conaty Indoor Athletic Center.
