Samperi named NEC Special Teams Player of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University sophomore Luke Samperi (Beverly, Mass.) was named the Northeast Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

The honor comes on the heels of Samperi's game-winning field goal against Fordham. With the Bulldogs trailing, 41-39, with four seconds left, Samperi drilled a 42-yarder for the walk-off victory. It was Samperi's first-career field goal and the first time the Black and Gold had won at the buzzer in program history.

In addition, seniors Thomas Costigan (Stamford, Conn.) and Tom Kennedy (Farmingdale, N.Y.) were named NEC Prime Performers. Costigan made 12 tackles and Kennedy set a program record with 13 receptions for 221 yards.

The Bulldogs continue their three-game road trip this weekend with a trip to Fairfield, Connecticut, to face Sacred Heart. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
