Football hosts SFU on Homecoming and Reunion Weekend

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team opens Northeast Conference play on Saturday when Saint Francis U visits Beirne Stadium for Homecoming and Reunion Weekend. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Series History

  • Bryant and SFU will be meeting for the 12th time in program history, with the Bulldogs holding a 6-5 advantage.
  • The Red Flash has won each of the last three and five of the last seven meetings, however.
  • Last season, SFU jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter and held on for a 27-14 victory.

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Bryant enters Saturday at 0-4 on the season after dropping a 35-30 heart-breaker to Brown last week.
  • The Bulldogs grabbed a 24-21 lead in the fourth quarter but the Bears answered and then intercepted a pass on their own 1 as time expired to hold on.  
  • Redshirt sophomore Kory Curtis (Cape Coral, Fla.) completed 35-of-55 passes for 394 yards and two TDs last week vs. Brown. The 394 passing yards were a single-game record.
  • Freshman Anthony Frederick (Hollywood, Fla.) finished with 119 receiving yards, becoming the first true freshmen in program history with a 100-yard game.
  • Grad transfer Hunter Hill (Memphis, Tenn.) also posted a 100-yard game, finishing with eight catches for 107 yards and two TDs.
  • Senior Jesse Nemerowicz (Hudson, Mass.) moved into second place all time in tackles with 259 in his career. He posted 10 tackles and two pass breakups last week.

A bit about the Red Flash

  • The Red Flash enters Saturday's game with a 2-2 record.
  • SFU has faced No. 2 James Madison this year and is coming off a 31-14 loss to Columbia.
  • QB Jason Brown is 62-of-110 for 819 yards, seven TDs and just one INT this year.
  • EJ Jenkins has caught 12 passes for 297 yards and four TDs.
  • Martin Foray Jr. leads the team with 26 tackles.
  • The Red Flash is allowing 356 yards of total offense per game.
