Bryant Football Linebackers Preview

Linebackers

Positions Coach: Steven Daniels, Bob Mackisey, Jacob Pardonnet

Notes and Notables

  • The Bulldogs will have big shoes to fill at the linebacker position this fall with the graduation of Jesse Nemerowicz and Robert Brown. Nemerowicz graduated with a program-record 320 tackles, while Brown finished in the top 10 in program history with 227.
  • The departure of Nemerowicz and Brown, however, opens the door for a new crop of talent to step in. Leading the way will be juniors Joe Andreessen, Jack Agnew and Ryan Saddler. Agnew led the trio in tackles last year, posting 49 in 12 games. He added 2.0 TFLs, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Agnew gave the Bulldogs the option to play linebacker and as a safety.
  • Andreessen got off to a hot start in 2019 before an injury sidelined him for most of the year. He posted six tackles in the opener, nine in week two and had seven tackles, 2.0 sacks and 3.0 TFLs in week three before missing the next eight games. Andreessen finished with 23 tackles.
  • A mainstay on special teams the last two years, Saddler will get a chance to increase his playing time this fall. He posted 17 tackles and 2.0 TFLs in 2019.
  • Senior James LoChirco will bring experience to the group. He posted 12 tackles, 1.0 sack and recovered a fumble as a sophomore in 2018.
  • Nemerowicz became the first Bulldog in program history to record 300+ tackles in a career.
  • Brown led all Bryant defenders with 108 tackles last fall, one shy of the single-season program record.
