Bryant takes on Marist Saturday night

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team heads to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., this weekend to face Marist College. Kickoff is set for 6:05 p.m.

Saturday's game will be streamed on ESPN3.

Series History

  • Bryant and Marist will be meeting for the fourth time in program history this weekend. 
  • The Red Foxes own a 2-1 lead in the all-time series. 
  • Marist won the first two meetings but Bryant earned a 37-27 victory in the most recent meeting on Sept. 15, 2018.
  • That game was the first night game in program history at Beirne Stadium. 

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Bryant enters the weekend at 1-2 overall following a 35-14 loss at FBS-member Akron last Saturday.
  • The game with Akron was Bryant's first ever against a member of the FBS.
  • The Black and Gold have been led offensively by the rookie tandem of QB Zevi Eckhaus and RB Fabrice Mukendi. Eckhaus is 35-of-62 for 285 yards and two touchdowns, while Mukendi has rushed for 173 yards and two scores on 33 carries.
  • Mukendi was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday after totalling 109 all-purpose yards against the Zips. Mukendi is averaging 5.2 yards per carry.
  • Defensively, the senior duo of Ryan Saddler and Joe Andreessen have combined to make 54.0 tackles on the year.
  • Saddler was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after posting 12.0 tackles, a FF and a FR at Akron.
  • Andreessen is averaging 9.0 tackles per game over his last eight games dating back to 2019. He's posted at least 6.0 tackles in all eight games. 
  • Marc Taglieri Jr. scored his first-career touchdown last week, catching a four-yard pass. He joins Mukendi, Landon RuggieriPsaveon Reaves and Nicholas Hasselman as Bulldogs to score their first-career TDs this year.
  • Bryant's defense has also received interceptions from Lake Ellis, Javis Hanks and Tyler Allen. All three recorded their first-career interception in week two vs Sacred Heart.

A bit about the Red Foxes

  • Marist enters the weekend at 0-1, following a 37-14 loss at Columbia. The Red Foxes had their first game canceled against Georgetown and had a bye week in week 2.
  • The Red Fox roster features 64 true or redshirt freshmen. 
  • Marist was picked to finish ninth in the Pioneer League this year. That league includes Davidson, San Diego, Drake, Dayton, Presbyterian, Valparaiso, Morehead State, St. Thomas, Stetson and Butler.
  • Aaron Acosta and Kyle Fleitman were both named to the Preseason All-PLL team on defense.
  • Dwayne Menders returned a punt 82 yards for a touchdown last weekend.
