Bryant, Brown meet on Homecoming

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team returns to Beirne Stadium this Saturday, hosting in-state rival Brown on Homecoming. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.

  • Saturday will serve as Homecoming at Bryant. All alumni, regardless of Class, are welcome.
  • The Bulldogs will also be honoring the 40th Anniversary of men's lacrosse. That will include a ring ceremony for the 2021 NEC Champion men's lacrosse team.
  • The Mi-Box Beer Garden will be open when gates open and will close at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

Series History

  • Bryant and Brown will be meeting for the sixth time in program history. 
  • The Bears own a 4-1 lead in the all-time series, having won each of the last three meetings.
  • Bryant's only win came in 2015. The Bulldogs earned a 20-16 victory at Brown thanks to a career-high performance from Chad Ward. 

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Bryant enters the weekend with an even 2-2 record following a 34-17 victory over Marist last Saturday. 
  • The Bulldogs have now held 13 of their last 16 opponents under 24 points. 
  • Bryant's 34 points are its most scored in a game since Sept. 21, 2019 against Brown.
  • Zevi Eckhaus was named the NEC Rookie of the Week after completing 22-of-29 passes for 232 yards and two scores.
  • The 232 passing yards are the most by a true freshman in program history. 
  • Anthony Frederick caught a career-high 10 passes for 109 yards and two scores, becoming just the third player in school history with a stat line like that. 
  • Ryan Saddler earned NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second-straight week. He had seven tackles against the Red Foxes.
  • Saddler and classmate Joe Andreessen have combined for 66.0 tackles this season. 
  • Luke Samperi moved into third place all-time in field goals with two last week. He now has 18 in his career. 

A bit about the Bears

  • Brown is coached by former Bryant head coach James Perry. Perry coached the Bulldogs for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
  • Brown is 0-2 this year with losses to URI and Harvard. 
  • Quarterback E.J. Perry is a preseason All-American and has thrown for 690 yards and four touchdowns in two games. 
  • Brown's defense has collected five sacks in two games.
