Andreessen finishes seventh in Buck Buchanan Award voting

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University football linebacker Joe Andreessen finished seventh in the Buck Buchanan Award voting, earning a total of 30 points.

Andreessen received two second-place votes, three third-place votes, five fourth-place votes and three fifth-place votes. John Pius (William & Mary), Zeke Vandenburgh (Illinois State) and David Walker (Central Arkansas) are the three finalists, with the winner being announced on January 7. 

Andreessen earned All-Big South First Team honors and NEFWA All-New England honors this fall after setting the single-season school record with 116.0 tackles. He ranked sixth nationally in total tackles, finishing with 77 solo tackles. Andreessen also added 4.0 sacks, 18.5 TFLs, two interceptions and two blocked kicks. He collected 10+ tackles in nine of the 11 games, averaging 10.5 tackles per game. Andreessen finished the season tied for third all-time with 256.0 career tackles.
