BRYANT FALTERS ON ROAD AGAINST DARTMOUTH, FALLS TO BIG GREEN 9-2

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior Brittany Glenn (Easthampton, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season and junior Courtney Landi (Kingston, N.Y.) netted her second tally in as many games, but the Bryant University field hockey team couldn't subdue a potent Dartmouth offense that exploded for nine goals Sunday afternoon, falling on the road, 9-2.

Landi's unassisted score at the 27:19 mark cut the Big Green's lead in half, 2-1, a score that would hold into the intermission. But out of the break, Lisa Masini got Dartmouth (4-0) back on the scoring track just 3:12 into the second frame. It was the first of seven second-half scores for the Big Green, who saw Meghan Everett record a hat trick in the final 35 minutes alone.

Glenn would break up the home team's scoring run with 23:40 left to play off a penalty corner to narrow the Bulldogs' deficit to 4-2, but five more goals over the ensuing 10 minutes would give Dartmouth the eventual 9-2 final.

Bryant (0-5) held its host scoreless in the final 11:43 of the outing and Bulldog goalie Jennifer Gullotti (Waltham, Mass.) made 10 stops while facing 37 Dartmouth shots on the day. Bryant fired 16 shots in the outing, 11 of which were stopped by opposing netminder Meagan Vakiener.

The Bulldogs return to action Sept. 17, when they travel to Orono, Maine to take on the Black Bears in a 5 p.m. matchup.
