Bulldog field hockey grabs sixth in preseason poll

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University field hockey team comes in at number six in the annual MAAC preseason poll released on Monday.

The Bulldogs ended the 2014 season only ahead of Siena College and are predicted to hold the same position in 2015. The team finished last year with an overall record of 4-13.

Defending champion Monmouth University was picked to finish first after receiving six of the seven first place votes. In their first season of NEC play, Fairfield University took number two in the poll after finishing 2-3 in the American East Conference. Quinnipiac University earned third, while Rider University slotted fourth. Sacred Heart University took number five with Bryant and Siena College rounding out the poll.

Despite the preseason rankings, the Black and Gold look to defy predictions and work their way back into the conference playoffs, starting with a road trip to Stockton, California to face off against Pacific on Friday, August 28th (6 p.m. ET).
