Bulldogs fall, 5-2, on the road against the Crimson

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University field hockey team fell to Harvard, 5-2, Monday afternoon in Cambridge.

Junior forward Victoria Danby (Lancaster, Mass.) notched a goal for the fourth game in a row, tipping the ball in on right side from freshman Emily Perryman (Lebanon, N.H.) in the second half. Danby's fifth goal of the season left the score at, 3-1, in the Crimson's favor.

The Bulldogs held Harvard to one goal in the first half when Elizabeth Jacobson found Marissa Balleza in front of the net for the score. Balleza went on to score two more goals before Danby answered in the 50th minute of play.

Harvard's Jacobson to Balleza combination proved to be unstoppable against the Bulldogs (1-4), connecting on three goals in a row for the Crimson (1-1).

Harvard found their fourth goal of the day when Ellie Cookson went unassisted, beating a Bulldog defender for the score.

Senior Bronwyn Walton (North Vancouver, B.C.) found the second score of the game for the Bulldogs, finishing the assist from junior forward Elena Borovskis (Pequannock, N.J.).

In the 64th minute, the Crimson sealed the 5-2 victory after Cookson found Kathleen Young for the score.

Freshman keeper Marissa Elizardo (North Wales, Pa.) finished the day with six saves in all 70 minutes for the Black and Gold.

The Bulldogs return to action Saturday, September 12 at noon in Providence against Brown.
