Two Bulldogs receive All-MAAC, seven named All-Academic

EDISON, N.J. – Two Bryant University field hockey players were named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-conference teams as announced Thursday evening. Senior back Leyna DiMarco (Glastonbury, Conn.) and senior forward Victoria Newbill (Wilton, Maine) received Second Team All-MAAC honors.

Newbill is being recognized for second team selections for the second year in a row. In 2018, Newbill played and started in 17 games recording two assists for the year. Her first assist of the season was to DiMarco who scored the first goal of the season against VCU in August.

DiMarco closes out her time as a Bulldog by receiving her first All-MAAC selection. The senior has appeared in 17 games making 14 starts for the Black and Gold. DiMarco tied with sophomore Ally Burdick (Cambridge, N.Y.) for most goals scored during the 2018 season with three. She also leads the Bulldogs with seven points as she also tallied an assist on the season. DiMarco scored her final goal to seal the win over LIU Brooklyn during Bryant's final conference game.

In addition to the All-MAAC selections, Bryant also placed seven on the 2018 MAAC Field Hockey All-Academic team. Madison Demand (Waretown, N.J.), Kathryn Doorley (East Greenwich, R.I.), Emily Perryman (Lebanon, N.H.), Lyndsay Swanston (Burlington, Ont.), Freya Ward (West Sussex, England), Haley Wood (Brownsville, Vt.), and Newbill all earned a cumulative GPA of a 3.2 or higher on the 4.0 scale after completing at least two semesters at Bryant.
