Pride picks up Lou Henson National Player of the Week honors

BOSTON, Mass. -- Bryant University men's basketball junior Charles Pride was named the CollegeInsider.com Lou Henson National Player of the Week on Monday.

The honor is a first for Pride and marks the second-straight week a Bryant player has earned Lou Henson National Player of the Week honors. Peter Kiss was honored on Jan. 31.

Pride had a monster week in helping the Black and Gold win at both Saint Francis U and Mount St. Mary's in the same season for the first time in program history. On Thursday, Pride scored a DI program record 44 points in an 89-82 victory for the Bulldogs. He scored the final 14 points of the game as Bryant rallied from down six with four minutes to play. On Saturday, Pride poured in 20 first-half points and finished with 32 as the Bulldogs earned a 62-61 win over Mount St. Mary's.

The Syracuse, N.Y., native finished 30-of-56 (.536) from the field and made all 12 of his free throws. Pride also registered a double-double in both games, collecting 12 boards on Thursday and 10 more on Saturday. He now leads the league with eight on the year.
