SGB, Rivera lift Bryant past Binghamton on Thursday night

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sherif Gross-Bullock led all scorers with 24 points and Daniel Rivera posted his second-straight double-double as the Bryant University men's basketball team posted a 77-69 victory over Binghamton on Thursday night at the Chace Athletic Center.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 10-7 overall and 2-0 in America East play. It marks just the fourth time in DI program history that Bryant has started 2-0 in league play.

Gross-Bullock posted his fourth-straight 20-point effort, scoring 11 of his 24 from the free throw line. Rivera added 12 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and four blocks, while Earl Timberlake finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. Rafael Pinzon chipped in 10 points to give Bryant four in double figures.

How it Happened

  • Binghamton held an 8-6 lead at the under-16 media before Rivera was able to finish an offensive rebound to give Bryant a 10-9 lead.
  • Dan Petcash, who averaged 23.0 ppg vs Bryant last year, tied the game at 12-12 with 12:26 to play in the first half.
  • Timberlake's free throw at the 12:10 mark broke the tie and ignited a 25-5 run over the next nine minutes.
  • Miles Latimer knocked down a long two fresh off the bench and Connor Withers swished his only three of the night to make it 18-12.
  • Binghamton would make it a five-point game before Pinzon found Gross-Bullock with an extra pass and SGB canned his only three of the night.
  • Rivera would then setup Timberlake with a pair of dishes inside before the Bulldogs threw three haymakers.
  • Pinzon drilled a three from in front of the Binghamton bench, Rivera slammed home a dish from Tyler Brelsford and Doug Edert sent the Chace into a frenzy with a long three from the left wing.
  • Edert's lone three of the night gave Bryant a 37-17 lead and forced a Binghamton timeout.
