Walp earns first Northeast Conference weekly honor of spring

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- After winning the Lonnie Barton Invitational for the second-straight season, Bryant University golf junior Joe Walp (Portland, Maine) has been named the spring's first Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week.

Walp earned the individual title at the Lonnie Barton Invitational with a two-round total of 150 (78-72), beating LIU Brooklyn's George Williams by a match-card tiebreaker. Walp was instrumental in leading the Bulldogs to a fifth-place team finish, and the junior's second-round tally of 72 was the best round of any golfer in the tournament.

The Bulldogs return to the course Sunday for the 2015 Blue Devil Spring Shootout, hosted by Duke University in Durham, N.C.
