Bulldogs in third after first round of Til Duty Is Done Collegiate Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Behind a two-over 74 from junior Kyle Buschmann (East Haddam, Conn.), the Bryant University golf team carded a round one 308 and sits in third following Saturday action at the Til Duty Is Done Collegiate Invitational hosted by the University of Connecticut.

Buschmann's 74 ties the junior for fourth in the individual standings, and he is joined in the top-25 by teammates Ryan Tombs (Bedford, N.H.) and Joe Walp (Portland, Maine). Tombs enters Sunday action tied for 13th overall after a Saturday 76 (+4), while Walp is currently tied for 21st just one stroke behind (77).

Sophomore John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) carded an 81 in his opening lap and is tied for 51st in the 89-golfer field, while senior Conor McGovern (Darien, Conn.) is tied for 68th after a Saturday round of 85.

As a team, the Bulldogs sit 13 strokes back on leader the University of Hartford, who was the only squad to shoot below 300 on the day (295). UMass Lowell currently sits in second with a 19-over 307, just one stroke ahead of the Black and Gold. LIU Brooklyn follows in fourth (309) while URI sits in fifth (310) in a tightly packed 16-team field.
