Slade garners NEC accolade

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University golf team junior McKinley Slade (Saunderstown, R.I.) was named the Northeast Conference Men's Golfer of the Month, the league announced Wednesday.

Slade earned his second NEC Golfer of the Month honor of the year following a second place finish at the Towson invitational, marking his second-best finish this season. The junior carded a 75 in the first round, then jumped 12 spots after shooting a one-under par 71 in the second round. Slade's two-over 146 placed him a single stroke behind the individual champion. The Saunderstown, R.I., product was the lone golfer to shoot at or under par on the final day, and the 71 matched his best round of the year.
