Tombs repeats as NEC Golfer of the Month

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- After posting a stroke average of 70.5 on the final four rounds of fall competition, senior Ryan Tombs (Bedford, N.H.) has once again been named the NEC Golfer of the Month.

His stellar play in October mirrored that of his September efforts, as the senior extended his string of strong fall performances for the Bulldogs to claim his second-straight NEC Golfer of the Month award. The senior finished third among 87 golfers in the Connecticut Cup after carding a two-over 218 (73-73-72) over three rounds. His performance propelled the Bulldogs to a fourth-place team finish in the 15-team field, and both Bryant's team and Tombs's individual finish topped all NEC schools competing at the event.

The senior then went on to defeat Brown's Chad Carlson two days later in a head-to-head dual match, shooting his best round of the year at five-under par (64). He topped Carlson by 11 strokes in the single-round contest. Tombs posted a 70.5 stroke average over the two competitions and averaged 71.8 strokes per round for the fall.

The Bulldogs return to the greens this spring.
