Bulldogs return to action Monday and Tuesday for Connecticut Cup

ELLINGTON, Conn. – The Bryant University golf team returns to action Monday and Tuesday for the Connecticut Cup, a 15-team tournament hosted by UConn at Ellington Ridge Country Club.

Last Year

  • Bryant finished fourth out of 15 teams at the three-round event a year ago with a score of 894 (+30). The Bulldogs were six strokes back of team champion Boston College.
  • Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) and John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) are the two returning Bulldogs who played in the event a year ago. Stafford placed 50th (+15) while Roberts was 52nd (+16).
  • Ryan Tombs led the Bulldogs with a third-place result (+2).

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Bryant was last in action Sept. 18-19, recording an 11th-place score out of 20 teams at the Hartford Hawks Invitational. Sophomore Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) led the Bulldogs with a 20th-place result (E).
  • Junior Ryan Brown (Bedford, N.H.) led the Northeast Conference in the month of September with a 72.4 scoring average. Brown placed third (E) at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate, the Bulldogs' fall opener.
  • Stafford has a 72.8 scoring average through two events and five rounds, while sophomore Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) has recorded a 74.4 and graduate John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) is at 74.6.
