Bryant aims to defend NEC title this weekend at LPGA International

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Bryant University golf team looks to defend its Northeast Conference title when the Bulldogs travel to Florida for the NEC Championship, played Friday through Sunday at LPGA International.

Bryant is aiming for its third NEC crown in the last five seasons. Two players from last year's championship-winning team – graduate student John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) and junior Ryan Brown (Bedford, N.H.) – will return to LPGA International as the Bulldogs play a 54-hole event over three days.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Bryant was last in action April 17 at the Rhode Island Invitational. The Bulldogs finished sixth as a team in the rain-shortened, 36-hole event, while sophomore Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) placed ninth with a 73 and 74 over the two rounds.
  • Roberts and sophomore Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) added top-25 results at Quidnessett.
  • Sophomore Payton Kim (Palatine, Ill.) turned in a 30th-place finish and will join Henderson, Roberts and Stafford in Florida, as will Brown.
  • The Bulldogs aim for their third conference title in five years. Bryant won the 2017 championship by 26 strokes over Fairleigh Dickinson.
  • Roberts placed sixth a year ago and Brown finished 11th on the same course.

With a team title this weekend, Bryant would earn the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Men's Golf Regional Championships, to be played at one of six sites May 14-16.
