Bryant selected as NEC preseason favorite

SOMERSET, N.J. – The Bryant University men's golf team has been selected as preseason favorites in the Northeast Conference by the NEC's head coaches, as announced Tuesday by the conference office.

Bryant received five of nine first-place votes in the nine-team poll. Robert Morris and Sacred Heart split the other four first-place selections to tie for second in the rankings. Fairleigh Dickinson, Saint Francis U and LIU Brooklyn placed fourth through sixth, while Mount St. Mary's and Wagner tied for seventh. St. Francis Brooklyn rounded out the poll. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams.

Sophomore Nick Piersall (Portland, Conn.) led the Black & Gold in the fall with a 74.7 average. He is joined by five other Bulldogs who played in four or more tournaments this fall – senior Ryan Brown (Bedford, N.H.), juniors Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.), Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) and Andrew Warfield (Southborough, Mass.) and freshman Tyler Hahn (Avon, Conn.). Stafford was an All-NEC honoree a year ago, while Brown placed 11th at the NEC Championship in 2017 and competed in Bryant's NCAA Regional appearance.

Bryant opens its spring season March 4-5 at the Lonnie Barton Invitational, hosted by LIU Brooklyn at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
